COUNSELLING DIRECTORY Counselling Directory is a confidential service that encourages those in need to seek help.

Our site also serves as an information hub for people to read mental health-related articles and news, as well as to find local events. The Health Shop brand is remaining and you will see some of the same faces up at Wellbeing Hub – The Health Shop will continue to be fully inclusive of all genders and sexualities.

All of the same sexual health services will continue including:

  • Testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis and HIV for people with no symptoms.
    (This includes oral and anal swabs – we are non-examination service)
  • HIV and Syphilis Fast test
  • Free condoms, lube and gloves
  • Information relating to safer sex and sexually transmitted infections
  • Advice around breast and testicular self-examination
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Emergency Hormonal Contraception (for people over the age of 14)
  • Hepatitis B vaccinations (criteria applies)
  • Testing and referral for Hepatitis B and C
  • Specialist information around Chemsex

There will be no needle exchange from The Wellbeing Hub. The Health Shop will be providing specialist outreach needle exchange at locations across the city.

LEICESTER LGBT CENTRE Voluntary organisation supporting LGBT people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

LGBT+ SERVICE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE This includes 11- 16 year old LGBT+ support, 16- 25 LGBT+ support, Trans support groups and Parents and Carers support groups. We also provided one to one support to children, young people and their families outside of these sessions.

Alongside the groups and one to one support we are also able to provide individual counselling and family group mediation with BACP registered counsellors through our “Talkzone Counselling” service.

Our 11-16 LGBT+ group runs weekly on a Wednesday evening from 4:30pm until 6:30pm.

The 16-25 LGBT+ group WOW runs weekly on a Wednesday evening from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.

NOTTINGHAM COUNSELLING CENTRE Aims to promote mental health and to relieve distress and sickness associated with emotional, personal, relationship, family or related problems.

“NCS counsellors span a variety of backgrounds reflecting the diversity of the community we serve”. There is a waiting period, which varies (phone for details) and the minimum fee is £6, but this depends on circumstances.

NOTTS HARDSHIP FUND (HIV) Set up to provide financial help to people of limited means who are living with HIV.

Grants are made towards essential expenditure and living costs for people living with HIV in Nottinghamshire. As it is at present entirely dependent on its own fundraising, private donations are also welcome. Tel. 0115 845 7135

OUT IN EDUCATION Out in Education is a not-for-profit group that aims to tackle homophobia in primary and secondary schools across the UK.

We are run by young people (from the University of Nottingham), for young people. We plan and deliver free workshops, assemblies and lessons to pupils of all ages. We also advise and train teachers about how to combat homophobic bullying on campuses. http://www.outineducation.org.uk
